Why should you give regularly to small charities?

3Pillars Project depend on the generosity of individuals, companies and the community to make charitable donations to continually innovate within our work.

You’re probably sick of being asked to donate, and there are so many charities out there; how do you know who deserves your money? When choosing to donate to charity, small contributions have the potential to make a massive difference in a young person's’ quality of life. Donations not only benefit the charities themselves, it can be deeply rewarding for you and your community too. If you’re not already convinced, here are some reasons why you should regularly donate to a small charity.

“No one has ever become poor by giving”

Showing kindness in the form of financial assistance, or volunteering can help small charities greatly. From donating, you can get a high level of satisfaction and self-accomplishment, but above all, you will be able to play a role in making positive changes in the community.

Giving is more impactful than ever

Many people are concerned that their donations to charity may be reduced by tax or administrative costs. However, if you are a UK taxpayer, you can boost the amount of every donation you make by giving through Gift Aid – an income tax relief created to help charities get the most out of the funds that they receive. In fact, Gift Aid adds 25p to every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you! 3Pillars also pledge to spend 85% of your donation on frontline delivery and development.

There are many other ways to give to charity tax-effectively too! Making regular donations straight from your wages through a payroll giving scheme or registering 3Pillars Project as your chosen charity when you shop online through Amazon and they will automatically donate a percentage of your total spend. Regular giving through these methods will ensure that 3Pillars Project benefits as much as possible from your support.

Regular donations means we can sustain our delivery

By choosing to give a small regular monthly donation, you will be helping us to plan ahead and make long-term improvements for young people sucked into criminal justice and in the community. A regular gift allows us to plan for the future because we know, day in day out, that we will have a steady income stream that we can rely upon.

Our programmes are long term and need long term funding. Whilst we run 6-8 week courses, this is merely the start of our engagement with young people. Rugby training provides a great way to build initial relationships as it provides a shared experience. During the courses, young people have 1:1 meetings with mentors to establish action plans. At the end of a programme, all participants are provided the opportunity to maintain their engagement with 3Pillars so that we can support them into education, employment or training. This is not the closing of our relationship, we continue to be available to these young people, with in-formal support. Having regular donations, whatever size, means we know we can continue to provide this vital support.
